In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track in just 6 months. The single a mix of reggaeton, pop and rock not only brought renewed interest in reggaeton but also attracted attention towards Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish predominantly, as well as four in 2016. At the peak of Despacito's popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish tracks made the top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin along with Maluma (2019). The mainstreaming of reggaeton was an issue for some artists in the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a younger generation wanted to preserve the style. The genre often incorporated electronic dance and other forms.
